5 Months

Audrey turned 5 months on Easter.  Funny, holidays are really her thing this year.  She was born the day before Thanksgiving, she celebrated her 1 month birthday on Christmas Eve, 5 months on Easter, and she will turn 1 on Thanksgiving this year!  Celia is my Labor day/ weekend girl, I guess we have a thing for the holidays.

In anycase.  I know that Audrey has grown some this month, but I won't have a weight or height until she is 6 months old.

Clothing size:  Okay, almost out of all 0 to 3 month clothes however you are still fitting most 0 to 3 month pants very well.  You can wear 3 to 6 month clothing and I have a feeling you will grow out of those a lot faster then any other size but who knows!!  I do know that whether you fit into them or not you will be wearing primarily 6 to 9 month clothing and some 9 to 12 month clothing this summer!!  Sorry, we just have too many pretty summer clothes left from your sister.  But, I have also discovered that you really do well on hot days with just a shirt and a cute cloth diaper cover.  Oh and we really have to size up for you to wear shorts with cloth diapers, I don't think shorts are meant for bubble butts.

Diapers:  Out of disposables, we have not used those in almost a month and your tushie is looking fabulous.  In cloth diapers you have outgrown all newborn diapers and a good amount of smalls.  I still think that Bumgenius diapers look ridiculous on you but I am double stuffing them at night anyhow, only that that works for my heavy wetter.  Yes, you are still peeing and pooping in the potty when I take you.  Of course you still go in your diaper, but hey it is a neat little trick that is keeping your sensitive tushie free and clear of any rash (along with Northern Essence Better Butter cream and diaper rash salve as needed)

Crib:  You are working your way into sleeping more and more in your crib.  I am hopeful however I am not going to write about this because I am afraid of jinxing myself.  I am going to give it 2 weeks and then share details.  I did get you this very, very cool musical projector thing that has helped you transition to the crib.  I am trying to get you to take naps in the crib and today you slept in it for 45 minutes in a sleep sack, unswaddled!!  At night, you are still being swaddled.

Favorites:  You love Elmo that sings "E L M O" and the leapfrog learn and groove table.  As we speak you are playing with your crinkly butterfly and kicking the table with your feet to play the music.  Speaking of music, you love music by Laura Story.   You will stop crying for her song "Blessed" and if we run the faucet.

You are rolling, rolling, rolling all over the place.  You are also trying to crawl.  This is around the time that your sister started this and she was mobile one day shy of 6 months!  I am trying to distract you from the idea of crawling, I dread putting the baby gates up with Celia hear.  I can just hear it now "I can't get out".   You are just about sitting on your own too, however you keep pushing your back, backward.  You love to stand with help of course and your little legs are getting stronger (chubbier too).  You are laughing easier, and easier- especialy for your sister.   Except for crying, you are not making a huge amount of noise.  I would love to hear more and more babbling and cooing.  We had that a couple months ago but now you are focused on moving.   We do still hear screeching, ma ma ma, and some other sounds on occassion.  Oh and I think you fake cough sometimes.

This month you will likely start some tastes of solids, oatmeal will be your first taste and then likely avocado.  You are still taking prilosec and I am torn as to if that is really what is making your slightly less fussy, you really do still have your moments.  But... we will try it a few more weeks.

Hint to Mommy, jean shorts or shorts of most kind do not go with cloth diapers!

Big Sister

So Celia had her first scrape the other day.  Yes, her first.  I know she had stitches in the summer, but that was a fall from a ladder.  Celia has never injured herself falling while running, she has fallen but never drawn blood.  She is showing off her scrape proudly.

She loves Audrey still and we have not seen a whole lot of jealousy yet but she has informed Pete and I that she needs a lot of "tention".  Yes, because we did not know that!!  She can get Audrey to laugh and often to stop crying, that comes in handy!! But... she is going to strangle or squish Audrey one day with her constant "hugs".

She just finished up another round of soccer shots and she enjoyed it but I don't think it is her absolute favorite thing to do.  She showed off her moves to me, in the middle of hiking up her pants every time she ran.  It is the spring, outgrowing size 3T but really not ready for 4T!!

I am looking forward to summer humidity to start styling her curls, I am not great with hair at all.

Playdough and salt

Yesterday Audrey took a nap by herself (Thank you to my amazing friend Julie for letting us borrow her swing, Audrey takes at least a 20 min nap, sometimes 2 hrs in it everyday) and Celia and I had some fun.  We made playdough and I let her play with a tray of salt.  I know, it doesn't seem like fun but a tray full of salt is a blast for a 3 year old.   My Father in law is reading this and thinking, "Yep, salt is fabulous" as he adds to everything he eats.   By the way FIL, if you read the triplets blog that is on my sidebar, salt actualy helps your thyroid so perhaps you have the right idea.

So meet Hetzy Audy Naudy

She lives in Anatacia.  She likes wings, apples, strawberries, and bugs.  She has a sister, a Mommy, and a Daddy.  She has a neck.  Celia felt that was important because she is a snake and according to her, snakes do not normally have a neck.

My creative little girl.

Celia and I also had to see if she still fit in the Ergo Carrier and yep, she does.  I wouldn't want to carry her around in it but I could do it for about 20 or 30 min but don't tell Celia that.  If I told Celia that, she would hop right in.

My daughter

Celia: you know Mommy, if you just did what I wanted I would fill up my whole sticker chart
Me: what?
Celia: I would do everything if you just did what I wanted
Me: yes, that would make things easier, but that is not going to happen

Weird sights from today too

The kid on an a motorized board with a hockey mask on that circled our road
The pregnant lady in front of the grocery store drinking red bull and smoking
The pimped up smart car, rims, and decals, on a cartoon car....

Cutting Nails

At our house Daddy cuts the girls nails, he is very patient and very good at it. Here are a few cute pictures of Audrey getting her nails trimmed, at this point her manicures are a bit easier then Celia's manicures.

I took Celia to Longwood on Thursday, just the two of us.  My Mom stayed with Audrey.  It was a bit chilly in the morning but we had a good time and Celia walked a lot!  Here are some pictures.

Can you believe that Celia took this last picture??  She has a habit of taking really great pictures lately!!  She does well with a regular camera.

The Little Things

I am not a materialistic person but after I put Celia to bed the other day, I walked around the house and thought that some material things really mean a lot.  These are not things that I will hang on to but it is telling of our life right now...

Celia's little sneakers, lined up by the bathroom.  They are lined up there because I wanted her to put them by the front door and she put them by the bathroom do basically to just control the situation.  But.. I wasn't in the mood to push the battle at the moment.  These sneakers are pink inside and she is finally excited to where sneakers vs dressy shoes because they are pink inside.  They are her soccer shots shoes, her playground shoes, and her "I can run so fast" shoes.  I love those little sneakers.

We have these random dollhouse dolls throughout the house.  Celia loves her dolls, big, small, skinny, naked, naked, naked dolls.   Celia can make up elaborate play scenarios with her little dolls and Celia can drive us all crazy with her little dolls, especialy if she forgets to bring one to bed.

Then we have Audrey.  This is not the best picture of this toy, but this was the first toy she played with.  My Mom gave it to her and it is a big, crinkly butterfly that she kicks with her feet, crushes with her hands, etc.   For me, the first time she played with this toy made me feel like there was an end in sight.  Audrey is attached to me or someone at all times and for her to take an interest in toys and entertain herself just seems so freeing..

So do a "thing" walk around your house and see how many of the items are so very telling of what is going on in your life..

New Toy

Celia loved this leapfrog table that my Mom got her, she started playing with it when she was around 5 months old.  So we got it out yesterday but...

The person playing with it wasn't exactly who I had in mind!!  I also didn't mean for the Bumbo to be used for a 3 year old!!

Since I posted that video...

I thought I would share some sweet pictures of Audrey

Audrey's grandparents watched her the other day while I went to the dentist- fun times!  I am not often away from Audrey, okay barely at all.  Audrey was like a different kid for them.  She napped for most of the visit and then was perfectly content.  They left, Audrey realized that she was put down and this was her mood...

Last night

I decided to write down when Audrey woke me up at night because I thought maybe it wasn't as bad as I thought. Hmmm.... You decide but I had to add in Celia last night due to a scary movie we let her watch, you know Tangled!
Celia up unti 9:15 (but put to bed around 8 which is late)
11:00 Celia
11:30 Celia
12:30 Celia and Audrey

So I enjoyed that straight hour plus between 12:30 and 2.... I should track how long I am up each time.
