Well we Had a Good Streak

Notice the sheet and the towel?  I wish they were in my car an hour prior to this photo.
On Monday Audrey had the start of a cold. On Tuesday it was a barky cough and cold but still not that bad.  Wednesday she definitely had barky cough and a hoarse voice but made it through the school day with school saying she never coughed at all and seemed fine.  I figured it was a mild case of croup or a virus.  So Thursday Celia woke up with the barky cough and a sore throat.   She stayed home and Audrey went to school.  Around noon Pete got a call that Audrey was sweaty and not feeling well.  So he got her (he worked from home that day) and put her down from a nap in which she played and apparently was feeling better.  That is until the night….  She woke up with a coughing fit with a 102 temp (her highest and longing lasting temp so far) and then vomited.  Fun times.  So off to the doctor in the morning to find out it is just a virus.  The vomiting is from the coughing and the fact that illness makes her reflux worse.  Just as we pulled into our neighborhood coming home Audrey started coughing and then I heard the worst sound…  Basically my child exploded everywhere, carseat, back of my seat, on the floor, beside her.  It was not pretty.  I opened her door and we both just sorted of stared at each other.  I had no idea where to start.  So I ran in, grabbed towels and got her out of the carseat.  This is the moment in which she turns to me and says "Momma, you don't have to do "uppy", I will walk".  I did not have the heart to tell her that there was no way that I was going to pick vomit covered little self up anyway.
So after she did all that she took a tubby and seemed to feel much better.  She took a long nap later and then had some fun outside.  Actually it was very cute.  She helped me water the plants and at one point started shaking the watering cans and water sprayed all over.  I think she expected me to get mad but it was fine.  So then she just had a blast and until she realized her clothes were wet and she was "all done".
Celia has more of a cold type thing instead of the fever and severe cough that Audrey has had.  She has a cough but not as bad.  And I am now hit with this thing too, we were healthy for so long!!
So I saw on twitter, this art project that someone did.  I decided to try to copy it and included Celia.  The above is my picture.
This is Celia's picture, it is super cute.  She was a bit of a perfectionist with it and this was her third try.

Healthy Running Kids End

So on Mother's Day we ended our Healthy Running Kids series.

I will miss the Piggy Tails, they only go in for her to run
Audrey has her game face on
See that really tough looking brunette with a few curls?
Audrey beat her!!
Yep, her last race and she was not last.
Okay, we would have been 100% fine with her being last, but still it was nice..
Super, super proud of that medal!!
 Here is Celia finishing strong
So proud of this 6 year old

Here are my super stars!

Growing Up

Quite Frankly the last two weeks have been up and down with news that has not proven to be awesome.  A new little cousin was thrown into the mix and that was awesome.
It seems like as you get older, we have to have more conversations that are grown up.
We have to make you sad even though we do not want do it.
Of course you are always so amazing and you get through it.  Emotions, you get through.
Physical pain, well not so much, but you have time.
But Emotions kiddo, so far, you have proven to be resilient.
The news we broke to you this evening involves a big change for our dear friends.
But also you because you love them.
You will get through it.
I need to say that for myself too.
But it is okay to be sad too.
You are strong.
Life is full of adventures and people.
Some people will come and go out of your life and you will learn that is okay.
This is one of those times.
You will be okay.

Decisions and a Welcome

So First I have to say a welcome to our new niece Victoria Claire Kramer.  We currently have no idea what she looks like at all as my sister in law had to have her in one of those high tech places called a hospital and is still there.  Hopefully we will get to see a picture soon.  She was 7 lbs 10 oz, smaller then her big brother but outweighing my scrawny newborns by quite a lot!

So for us.  Decisions for me the past two years have been torture, not sure why, but they just have been.  I have felt stress over job decisions and education decisions and other things for a long while.  One decision we made last year was to send Celia to a private quaker school.  It has been a great experience for her this year.  I believe in public education and we live in a top school district.  So we intended to send her to the district next year.  It was fine with hesitation at how nurturing the school has been for Celia.  Not to mention the extras that she gets and the fact that they still push her to just be a kid.  But really I was resigning myself to the fact that things were just going to be a little complicated with using before care 2 days a week and having to deal with some extra days off, extra half days, etc.  But we would work through it.  Then last week I learned that my job was changing.  Next year I need to work 2 half days and 1 full day and the following year 4 half days.  I also have working Fridays thrown about 1 to 2 times a month.  I do not like the change and it has left me with many sleepless nights.  Figuring out how I was going to get Audrey to school at a time that would allow me to do the half days and not put her in full days and get to work on time and drop Celia off was just seeming impossible.  Then there is the redistricting issue.  Our school district is going to go through one of the biggest redistricting proposals in the 2015-16 school year that they have seen.  Oh and the fact that we are looking for a house.  All those combined just led me to ask if we could possibly still send her to Friends (Quaker school) and although I don't like the idea of still paying for her education it would solve a huge amount of stress.   And so long story short…. Celia will be going to Friends again next year.

We have told her this does not mean she will go to Friends forever.  The following year it would work out for me to adjust my hours to not have to use any daycare for Celia if she went to the district.  So we will take it one year at a time.  Celia is excited and she would have been okay if we sent her to district but this way we know that redistricting will not make her change schools yet again and we have a bit more freedom in where we move.

And this peanut, well I am not sure she wants to go to school 3 days but she will also be okay.

Around this time 2 years ago

It has been a highly stressful week
I have talked enough about it throughout the week and now I am just tired and I don't want to talk about it anymore.
I just want this week to be done

I am just glad there are these two little ones
And cute little pictures to look back at!
Oh my goodness, Celia was just so cute.
She still is, but when it was compacted into that cute little body, oh my goodness!

Celia has her first field trip tomorrow.
And she has to wear 3 star dress which means her adorable little uniform!!

Healthy Running Kids Update

Well we had our 3rd Healthy Running Kids race this weekend and guess who ran when they said Go!!

Celia stretching.  I was able to wonder over to her group, since Audrey is Miss. Big Girl now!

Yep, we said Go and she went, not fast but she ran.

Celia has a rough 1/4 miler.  Part of the course is a tough hill.
I don't know if you can see her but she is in black pants next to the girl in hot pink shorts.

She finished strong, hungry, and thirsty.

Perhaps this one did go out too strong.  This was the next day.  After she whined her way through Mom's Morning Out, at one point stripping (spilt water and long story), and had a complete meltdown at nap time in which she fell asleep on the floor.   I had to wake her to go pick up our neighbor from the bus and she fell asleep again. I texted this picture to Pete and he said "whatta cutie". I texted back simply "no".  In case you were wondering, no it was not sundress weather.  That was her dress of choice at nap time.
