I guess these are the before pics

The first is just the girls building. I am wondering if I should just let them have tv time ans iPad time in anticipation of power outages. But for now, they are having fun with lincoln logs and blocks.

I guess it's coming

So we are in the line of Hurricane Sandy. I am expecting to be off atleast Mon or tues if the storm does as predicted. Tomorrow we are supposed to start getting our 5 to 10 inches of rain and winds up to 80 mph. It should be interesting. Our electric company has already announced that they expect power outages lasting for a couple days to a week. I am not quite sure how one prepares for losing power that long. We have food but we may be living on dried fruit, crushers, and soynut butter and honey sandwiches at some point!

Celia has no idea what is going on but she has no fears of storms. She thought hurricane Irene was fun, so let the good times start!

Our neighbor gave Celia a tea set today. It is smaller then a set that she already has.
Celia: This tea set is the mini virgin of the other set
Pete: Mini version
Celia: Oh mini virgin

We are working on it

It started with a pumpkin

Fall I think started with our visit to our local orchard to pick a pumpkin.  It was slim pickings but we found one, then Audrey threw it at home (exclaiming ball as she did it), I did not share this incident and the bottom rotted out.... So we currently our pumpkin less except for our foam light up pumpkin sitting proudly upon Pete III.  Who is that you ask???  Be patient, you will find out.

Zuchinni

Celia: Mom isn't it cool that Ariel has a zuchinni
Me: Looking closely at Ariel, " you mean a bikini?"
Celia: Oh yes
Me: No

Did I not post these?

So I did take first day of school pictures!!

Her teacher is beyond magnificent.  She should be a regular elementary teacher but then maybe she would not enjoy her job as much!!  She is the most dedicated teacher I have ever known.  She stays at least 3 hours past the time that she has to stay and it sounds like every other spare moment is spent on thinking about her students.   I mentioned to her that Celia is reading and she said that she was thinking about starting a reading group.  I thought, okay, maybe that will happen and maybe it won't.  Well it has already started!  Celia is actually doing amazingly well with reading right now.  She has progress to the QU words and I think beyond.  She is starting to sound out most any words and remember them.  It is very neat to see!!!

Celia

Celia is over the top excited that she is spending Friday night with her grandparents. Tomorrow I have off from work but actually have a ton to do.

While putting her to bed I had this conversation

Celia: Oh what about packing for grandmas
Me: Oh i will pack for you tomorrow
Celia: Oh, your going to stay home just to pack for me
Me: Yes, Celia, just to pack for you

Audrey my love, you are amazing but you are really testing our patience.  Breakfast does not need to be requested with a scream and a hit.  Your sister and Daddy are allowed to look at you in the morning and no if they do look at you it should not cause you to melt into hysterics.

Your teachers at school think that you are so calm, quiet, and sweet.  They look at your Daddy and I in horror when we ask if you hit at school.  They say quickly, "Audrey???  She is the sweetest little girl".

Sigh, there is not much to be done with you at 21 months.  You have been introduced to timeouts and we ignore a lot of what you do because 90% is for attention.   I guess I should be glad that you save the trying behaviors at home and show everyone else your sweetest side.  You have learned to say "I sorry" and I am not sure if I should be proud of that!!  Your poor sister has gotten most of the abuse and sometimes she does taunt you but most of the time she simply gets some attention from Mommy and you become a jealous nut.  Sweet girl, you need to get over it.  Mommy has enough love to go around.
