Rearfacing Carseat

This article recently came out. I have been a strong advocate of extended rearfacing and Celia will remain rearfacing until at least age 2. Now as for finding places to check carseats, that is really hard around here!! So we had our first carseat installed by the local police station and I tried to call when we got our new carseat in August but I can't find a place! However, this carseat doesn't budge at all.

In anycase here is what the article says:

Keep your toddler in a rear-facing car seat until age 2 (not 1)Lori O’KeefeCorrespondent
New research indicates that toddlers are more than five times safer riding rear-facing in a car safety seat up to their second birthday. Following are some safety tips for car seat use:
All infants should ride rear-facing in either an infant car seat or convertible seat.
If an infant car seat is used, the infant should be switched to a rear-facing convertible car seat once the maximum height (when the infant’s head is within 1 inch of the top of the seat) and weight (usually 22 pounds to 32 pounds) have been reached for that infant seat as suggested by the car seat manufacturer.
Toddlers should remain rear-facing in a convertible car seat until they have reached the maximum height and weight recommended for the model, or at least the age of 2.

Oh and Celia pooped ( a monster poop) in the potty this evening. She was scared and I kept offering to put her diaper on, because where it went to me didn't matter. She did not want the diaper and she did poop then was upset until i told her that pooping that big certainly gets her 2 yogurt covered raisins. She instantly said "okay, okay, okay". I don't know what all this means, if I had a full week with her she would be fully toilet trained. But for now we will test things out at home only or give it a break if she indicates that she isn't ready for this.

I know it's a bit of a drive for you, but the state police barracks in Avondale do car seats and I've never had a problem getting an appointment. You could probably try Media barracks, too! I'm jealous of the potty training!!!! Henry has no interest AT ALL!
