Asthma- Update

Update:  As I called in the last sentence of yesterday's post, Celia woke up 98% better today.  We only gave her 2 nebulizer treatments.  Last night, I had the coughing fits.  I don't know what is up with this cold.  My bad feeling day was Wednesday and Celia's was Friday.  Also, what is up with my vacations ending up with someone sick!!  Now the count down begins, summer is coming!!!  Oh and Celia had a blast with Grandma and Grandpa today!

Today Celia was officialy diagnosed with Asthma.  I have dreaded this.   Nearly two years of breastfeeding kept me hopeful that she would not inherit this awful thing from me.  I was very young when I started with my Asthma and it was triggered by many, many, many things.  My asthma attacks also often came on extremly fast and were bad!   My mother is the expert on how stressful that was.  It followed me through college, got slightly better with some of the new medications into my mid twenties and then guess what- it was gone.  How was it gone?? Pregnancy!!  I haven't been on medication since I had Celia, in fact I haven't had bronchitis since I had Celia.  I used to never get through a winter without a bout of that.

In anycase back to my little one.  Her asthma seems to be triggered by illness.  This is really only the 3rd time she has had a history of wheezing but after 3 they call it asthma.  This is different too.  The first was from a bad case of RSV.  The second was from a cold in September.  This is also from a cold and she isn't getting long lasting relief from the nebulizer treatments.  I am hoping and praying that tomorrow morning she wakes up and we don't have to anything more.  If she is the same or worse, then we will likely be adding an inhaled steroid to the mix.    I also hope she sleeps well tonight, she had horrible coughing fits last night and neither one of us got much sleep.

Having been a severe asthmatic, having been to the ER numerous times, having been admitted a few times for it- I really didn't want this for her.  But it is what it is!  To keep her calm we have unfortunately watched alot of tv.  She is so looking forward to her Egg hunt at Grandma and Grandpas tomorrow and I hope that we get there.  She always seems to amaze us so I wouldn't be surprised if she wakes up like nothing was wrong!
